The TW Bus User Group (fondly known as The BUG) was originally established for Telford & Wrekin Council and Arriva West Midlands, to work together with Parish & Town Council representatives and bus users and it met four times a year.
This was a face to face meeting, with representatives from TWC and Arriva and had an Agenda which enabled both organisations to update members and guests on current matters and to inform them of timetable changes etc.
There was also an opportunity for bus users to share experiences and the authorities found this useful and used the information they gained to feed into their considerations.
This was more difficult when there were more transport providers across the Borough.
Meetings moved to virtual meetings, which encouraged a better attendance. However, some topics could not be discussed when service providers were in attendance.
At the same time, Telford & Wrekin Council became part of a Transport Partnership Board. This resulted in TW officers not being able to attend evening meetings of the BUG. The positive from this was that the BUG had one representative elected to the Partnership Board. These meetings are on a higher level and include the Cabinet Member, Senior Officers, All Transport Providers and includes Road, Cycle, Bus and Rail travel.
Arriva has been keen to continue to meet with the users of its services across Telford and these meetings will continue to take place virtually. Different times will be used to enable a wider attendance by users, PTCs and TW officers.
Other meetings will take place as and when required and can involve invitations to other service providers.
The Minutes of the meetings are available here:
