RANDLAY VALLEY CAR PARK

You may have seen the recent article in the Shropshire Star following a discussion which took place at a recent Parish Council Meeting.

The Valuation Office sets the rateable value and this year we have seen a significant increase in the charge for Non-Domestic Rates (which are calculated based on the rateable value).

Hollinswood & Randlay Parish Council will continue to challenge the rateable value and consequently the cost.

You may have seen some recent social media posts.  Please be assured that the area cannot be used for housing – it is part of the Randlay Valley Local Nature Reserve and therefore is protected from development.

Whilst we will be looking at the financial aspects of managing the facility, we must keep in mind that use of the area is restricted.  It is not a full-time car park.  The Parish Council, Telford & Wrekin Council, Telford International Centre, West Mercia Police etc. do use the area throughout the year which does bring in some revenue.  The restrictions do dictate that it cannot be used for certain activities, especially as it is part of the Local Nature Reserve.

We would like to thank those who have contacted us to offer support.  We will keep this post updated in the coming weeks.
