It is with great sadness that we share with you the sad news of the recent passing of Councillor Chris Turley.
Chris will be remembered as a dedicated councillor who represented the people of The Nedge Ward, and our Parish, with pride, kindness and integrity.
Chris became a borough councillor in May 2011 after moving to Telford with his late wife Judith and has served his community for 13 years. He was a much loved and active member of his local community, with an undeniable passion for conservation and wildlife which was demonstrated through his commitment to numerous roles including Trustee of the Severn Gorge Countryside Trust and Friend of Telford Town Park and Chairman of the Friends of Hollinswood & Randlay Valley.
Following his retirement, Chris made a significant contribution to local democracy, serving as a member of the Telford & Wrekin Audit, Planning, Licensing and various Scrutiny committees. Chris was most notable for holding the position of Chair of Business & Finance Scrutiny and playing an integral part as a consultee for the Cabinet’s budget proposals each financial year. He also served as a Town Councillor for Great Dawley Town Council and Parish Councillor for Hollinswood & Randlay and Stirchley & Brookside.
When he wasn’t attending meetings or volunteering, Chris could be found working on his allotment or spending time within Randlay Valley.
Chris will always be fondly remembered as a valued member of Hollinswood & Randlay Parish Council and Telford & Wrekin Council, who will be sadly missed, and our sincere condolences go out to his family, friends and colleagues at this very sad time.
The flags on our community buildings in Hollinswood & Randlay will be at half-mast this week and on the day of Chris’ funeral as a mark of respect.
Funeral arrangements will be shared shortly
